Kin Ryu's 30th Anniversary Tournament

Kimberley Davies , Lucy Marriott, Matthew Kilpatrick, Mitchell Paddington, Naomi Searle, Rebecca Mortimer, Tommy Angus,
Zachary Dowding and Zoe Killick.

On Saturday Kin Ryu Judo Club held their 30th Anniversary Club Competition and barbeque. The competition was attended by some of the clubs youngest members and all performed outstandingly. The event then closed with some well executed technical demonstrations from Lucy Marriott, Rebecca Mortimer and Ben and Naomi Searle. As well as fighting, Lucy Marriott was able to practice her refereeing skills having just passed her Level One exam at the recent Sussex Junior Refereeing Course; she was joined by Matthew Kilpatrick and one of the Club’s head coaches and National Referee Martin Rivers. The competition was run by the Club’s other head coach and Senior Recorder Peter Seymour making it a truly ‘in house’ event.
The competition was overseen by Mick Leigh, the Club’s Founder and President; he also presented the medals and trophies to the competitors. Following this was the Club’s barbeque and this was attended by members old and new, making the day an anniversary to remember.

As well as this event, Kin Ryu members have been competing in events around the South of England. Zoe Killick entered the Kent International at Crystal Palace, and took a well deserved fifth place; as well as this event Zoe and Naomi Searle entered the South Coast Open and performed well against some very tough opposition. Well done to all!!
