Blue Belt and Under and Red Belt Competition Results

On Sunday Kin Ryu Judo Club's newest
members, both senior and junior, experienced their first taste of competition
at the Sussex Senior Blue Belt
and Under and Junior Red Belt Invitation.
Juniors Nathan, Tommy and David
all fought well and were unlucky not to get
through to the final rounds; Cieran also fought well and made it
through the
first rounds to the final eight - from an initial group of 17! He
continued
to fight well and was unlucky to be beaten for bronze,
but should proud
with
a well deserved fifth place.
Anna also demonstrated some of her best judo when she won three of her
four
matches to take the silver medal.
Danny competed in his first senior event and found himself, the lowest
grade, against some very experienced players. Despite losing his first
fight
he went onto beat the eventual bronze medallist with a superb ippon
(full
point). He then took his third fight into extra time before narrowly
losing.
On the day Kin Ryu could boast
representatives across all areas of the competition, with Head Coaches Peter
Seymour and Martin Rivers as
Competition Controller and Senior Referee respectively; Matthew
Kilpatrick -
Referee, Lisa Harrison - Coach, Zoe Killick - Assistant Junior Coach.
All competitors should be proud of their performances and well done to
all!!
