Kin Ryu Judo Club Coaches Martin Rivers, Peter Seymour and Lisa Harrison have all been awarded the Sussex County Sports Partnership Bronze Volunteer Award. Working as coaches within the club and various roles within Sussex County Judo, the Kin Ryu trio put hours of work, dedication and effort into Judo in Sussex.
Co-Chief Coach
Martin, said “I’ve been involved in Judo for 23 years, initially as a competitor
both junior and senior and later as Sussex
Senior
Refereeing Coordinator and Sussex Web-Site Administrator. I have put in
a
lot of work in over this time for judo in Sussex and it’s fantastic to
be
recognised for some of it.”
Co-Chief Coach
Peter added “While we get recognition every week as coaches from the children
and adults who
train at
the club, it is great to be awarded for all the extra things we do
outside
of the club. I have been Assistant Competitions Coordinator in Sussex
for a
number of years and hope to continue for years to come.”
All of this comes at a perfect time of the year as 2006 is the year of the volunteer and in particular August is dedicated to Sports Volunteers, making this award even more special.
